date or identify a Sid Mottram ??

Retro Newbie
i've got hold of an old Sid Mottram.
it was involved in a car crash some 20 or more years ago and left in a shed to rot.
but i have it,
i need to find out which version it actually is..
i'll get some pictures up, but it's not a mercian, and doesn't have reynolds stickers on the frame.
i am hoping it's a genuine Mottram built by Mottram, but can't find a deal on the net to help identify and date it.

Brooks saddle, stronglight crank set (with caps) campagnolia derailleurs and lever, five gear only with lever in the handle bar end, but various pullies welded on the frame.
Cinelli 'mon campion del mondo' bars.
it even came with a saddle bag which had two brand new period inner tubes :)

once i get dressed i'll get some photo's up of it..
oh and it will be for sale, street bikes are not my thing.. ;)

hubs and saddle frame should all have date stamps on , if they are original equipment that might help to date it .

looks a great find let me know what and when you do next please

cheers guys,
will get some more photo's up tomorrow, i didn't want to lag the sever down :)
the frame does seem to have some small cable pully's around the BB maybe for two or three gear chain wheel ??
the wheel on the rear is original, the front is bent, but i still have it,
the current front one is from a Raleigh, as too are the crank arms and peddles,
stronglights are picture with toe clips..

i'll look for dates and serials, and then if anyone is interested, hey maybe we can talk :)

Stem and handlebar seems to be later addition. Early Record derailleur, one of the first versions, quite rare. Seatpost looks like Campagnolo Record as well.
What make are the brakes?
Sid Mottram frames were built by outside companies Mercian, Witcomb, quality frame.
Bike worth restoring.

Re:

Ok here we go..

Seat just say's 'K E A ' and what looks like a H or something, (picture upside down sorry)
nothing on the back label visible..

seatpost and headset are Campagnolia :)

brakes and wheels/rims are weinmann,

i think say's '79' next to the seat post bolt.

gear linkage, mounts and pulley's..

serial number ??
NERVEX 53 5064 022 E38

but looking closer it's 53 degree, 5064 c(centigrade ?) 022 (small 2) E38
53 5064 022 E38 being one size o (degree) c (centigrade) 2 all being half the size..

not a clue what all that means :)

*EDIT* since found this is to do with the Nervex lugs for the BB or gears ??
the BB i have changed as original the axel is snapped, i do still have it though, and it's hollow ??

so any other clues, or ideas ??
i couldn't find anything stamped on the actual hubs,
where all the frame parts fit together are all pin striped gold, and there's a large M on the top of the forks in paint 'Mottram' ??

A lovely time capsule piece, careful cleaning and refurbishment will make this machine look simply gorgeous.

couldnt agree more with spokesmann's comments

fyi date codes are stamped om the metal frame on a brooks saddle

Re:

The number on the bottom bracket is Nervex cast number and has nothing with brand of the bike.
Reynolds sticker is not always present on frames. But looking at this bike, Nervex Proffesional lugs, pencil seatstays, quality of components it is almost sure that it is Reynolds 531. Is seatpost 27.2 or 27.0? It should be stamped on the back of the seatpost.
The original Stronglight crank has "Marque" or "Marque Depose" stamped? It's not visible on the photos. If only "Marque" it's of older type from 50's or very early 60's, the shape of the oval looks like the early one.

There seems to be a crack in the bridge between chainstays, by the bottom bracket.

And I completely agree with Spokesmann.
