I remember it down to every nut and bolt, I got the cranks and stem/steerer chromed in York, the wheels were a take off from some random bike as were the chainrings, that's why it's got a Black chainring spider and Suntour shifters with Shimano rear mech, I hoped Leisure lakes wouldn't notice

Nice to know it's still alive and good luck with the sale, I always regretted trading it :cry:

Book via parcelforce.co.uk and use the 14% off code AL06 makes it MUCH cheaper. You can have it colected or drop off at depot/post office.

Or use cyclesent.co.uk they will send you a box and then pick it up next day for £45

Thanks for the tip about the code for Parcelforce. I'll probably use them again this time as the driver was really helpful.
I've got a box that my Dad's sourced from a cycle shop in Leyland, but otherwise that might have swayed me towards Cyclesent because I've heard good things about them.

I'll probably wrap the bike frame in pipe insulation again, when I sold my Mum's Specialized I did the same though it cost me about a tenner from the local DIY shop.
The buyer said everything arrived undamaged, even though the box got a hole in it on its travels.

Did you buy it new, and if not where did you get it? If you have any more history I'm sure my Dad would like to know.
For example, did you helicoil the rear mech and what were the original wheels, shifters & gears on it?
Are you local to Leisure Lakes area?

Thinking back I bought it from a young lad who lived in Pickering and worked briefly for Pace when they were at Great Edstone

I rode it for a number of years and then when the new fangled "Full Suspension" came along I decided it was the future and traded it against the Mantra

I think I swapped out a lot of the nicer parts and hung onto them, fitting "make do" parts just so it could be ridden into the shop, I lived in Pickering at the time, so it was quite a road trip but at the time there was no option

Most of the frames have a Helicoiled rear mech mount, it certainly wasn't done due to damage and since owning this I have seen many RC100 frames with this, so certainly not something to worry about

Wheels would have been Pace hubs, and Shimano running gear from memory, I sneaked the Suntour shifters in so I could keep the Shimano thumbies

Hope it finds a new home

The guy who placed the winning bid thought there was cracks in 2 places on the frame so I brought it back home with me.
It so happens that my neighbour is a specialist welder, so I asked him for his opinion and he said he could test it for me.

My neighbour has dye penetration tested both areas and given it a clean bill of health.
He polished the paint away locally and used this pink dye kit. Then after leaving it a short while you spray on the white powdery developer. He has assured me there are no cracks on the frame.
He says that what the guy thought were cracks are just the shapes of the weld or maybe where the paint had gone.
The test shows the flaws in the paint up too, that's why he polished it away from the weld first.
So, I'll be re-listing it on Ebay with a clear conscience.
My neighbour took photos before and during the tests showing what he did. He says if anybody buys it and has any concerns about the frame they can come here to pick it up and he'll do any test in front of them now he's brought the kit home.
