My kids both did the Gold award about 10 years ago. As they were on the road I was allowed too. I actually learned a few things on it. They even gave me the gold frame sticker but I Never got the certificate though.

Did mine in about 1983, the only kid in the school who failed was already at the pointy end of National BMX racing in his age group, think he went on to race at international level. (He moved when we went to secondary school, only heard rumours since.)

But, still he doesn't have his cycling proficiency certificate.
