In my attempts at building a bike for my mates son, looking to get some 27.5 suspension forks (non-boost) at an affordable price to keep his budget down.

I have a set of suntour coil forks already which are in decent shape, but heavy.

Are the Judy forks an improvement? I am sure they probably are, but also thinking could are kind of got and forget over the air fork.

Not sure why, but the 30mm stanchions trouble me. So used to 32mm now, or bigger.

The model I'm thinking of are the rl gold air.

In theory yes, in the hands of a teenager, probably not. I’d just go coil. Very little to go wrong and a lot more robust.

They are pretty basic and will be heavy so maybe not worth the bother? I'd normally say you should be able to find some better (Pike, Revelation, etc) forks for not much more but it seems 27.5 kit has shot up in price.

If you can either source a boost wheel or space the one you have I will have some mint Pike's available soon. Low mileage and little use.;)

I've gone this route on my son's bike (boost spacer) so may be an option.
