CRESCENT PEPITA '72/'73

Jesper

Retro Guru
Fairly original build "Pepita". Replaced: chain with SRAM, factory steel post with Campy alloy "Record", brake cables and housings Jagwire. Added Christophe cages, Sunlite straps, and REG shift and brake lever covers.
Very good performance even with the Campy "Valentino" derailleurs.

Not much left to do except find an old Crescent bottle.

Lovely original early 70's class, love the colour, any tubing transfers ?
Thank you "Kermit",
My favorite color and graphics. All decals are original, but the Reynolds decals have only remnants remaining. "531" frame and fork; will probably install reproductions at some future date. I was trying to keep as original as possible; improving performance whilst utilizing the original main components. I was able to verify originality from another who assembled these bikes in the early '70s since I was unable to find a catalog image which matched the model with the same groupset, but many frames were built up at the shops which sold them so they may have had different components of like quality/performance, except the "Specials". This is the identical frame to the "Pepita Special" model (92320, this is a model 92319) which at the time only incorporated the Campy "Nuovo Record" groupset. Only other modification performance wise may be to replace the original "lower end" Lyotard pedals (steel) with some period correct Atom pedals (alloy) to fit the French thread cranks. I have the pedals, but still need to service/rebuild.

Take care,
Jesper

Really lovely! The chequered bands and orange detailing very much appeal to me, looks fantastic with the straps and everything matched.

A lovely Swedish model... Is it me, or are your straps upside down (or should that be back to front?).

I've put a few miles on it with them installed like that; maybe it's is a personal preference for me. They work fine getting in and out of them. The straps are orange on the external side if that is what you were referring to.

I wanted to add a note about the headbadge since it is not like the actual badge for the same year bike of a larger size. My headbadge is missing the crescent "C's" on the left and right sides due to the frame being too small for them to fit with the headtube lugs being so close together.

I have a 1973 Crescent 319. Bought it in 1973 and used it as my main mode of transportation in college. Am having trouble finding tubulars to fit the original rims. Any suggestions? The shop I took it to said that updating them would require replacing the hubs and the new ones would be no where near as good as what I have. 249F2EA6-E5C6-4AE5-A8CF-5044BCF066E2.jpeg
