Crap or rad? ‘96 Claud Butler Diatto

Dirt Disciple
Hi all, recently purchased this Claud Butler Diatto. Harvested the ‘good bits’ (Tioga Psyco KS tyres in grey, Tioga saddle and Campy wheelset) and built it back up with new bits and fresh cables for sale.

Just wondering, is the frameset actually any good? Not much info about them online and never saw another. Before and after pics attached

Cheers!

upfront, and sorry to say, i like the one on the left picture better, if this was before than it's a bit of a pity that you're not going to keep on using the nice Tioga saddle, pedals, bottle cage and great looking grey Psycho tires.

We do have a nice catalog in the archive

To me it's mostly the nicely done Aluminium frame in nice color and matt finish. This looks great, and it seems that it's even hard to take good pictures of that the color, as your both pics and also the one form the brochure look on each photo differently,

and the already mentioned Tioga parts which make this an interesting bike.
Those Tioga parts have not been used a lot at bikes from other manufactures at the same price range...

The Acera-X is clearly the downside. the drive train may work OK-ish, but is heavy and not good looking, with steel chain rings, the shifters and in particular the cheap hubs are simply not good for more heavy use.
I would look for a donor bike to replace the wheel set and parts with better stuff.

Thanks for the reply joglo. Yep, those 2 pages you shared are the only 2 I’d seen already- along with literally, a couple of pics of them in this spec.

To be honest the bike was bought for the tyres. They’re in amazing condition and now live on a Cannondale SM2000. The saddle also lives on the same bike and the wheelset now resides at a mates house awaiting new hubs- gave him then as a thank you for giving me the heads up on the bike.

It’s not your average CB and definitely seems a decent frame. I’m going to list it for sale on here (it’s already on marketplace) for £50. Should fly out at that surely?! Let’s see
