For Sale Cove Hummer - Ti frame - £175

Yo, let me tell ya ‘bout a story that I once knew,
It’s all about bikes, yeah, I’m talkin’ to you.
You’re ridin’ down the road, thinkin’ you’re so cool,
But that frame ain’t the problem, nah, it’s the fool!
Steel, carbon fiber, aluminum too,
They ain’t gonna crack unless the plan’s askew.
You blame the metal when your wheel hits the deck,
But it’s bad geometry that wrecks your neck!

Materials don’t fail, designs do!
You better check the angles before your bike’s through.
It ain’t the carbon fiber or the steel you bend,
It’s that wack-ass frame that’s causin’ the end!
Materials don’t fail, designs do,
If you’re hittin’ the ground, yo, the fault’s on you!

You bought a fancy ride, thinkin’ it’s legit,
But the blueprint’s off, now you’re deep in some… (trouble).
Don’t trust the hype or the brand new tech,
If the engineer was nappin’, your bike’s a wreck!
Forget the titanium, the lightweight craze,
If the geometry’s off, it’s you who pays.
Head tube angles, top tube length,
If they don’t make sense, you’ll be ridin’ on the brink!

Materials don’t fail, designs do!

Materials don’t fail, designs do,
If you’re hittin’ the ground, yo, the fault’s on you!

Yo, it’s science, man, the math don’t lie,
But when the design’s wrong, you’re gonna fly!
Down to the pavement, crash and burn,
It ain’t the steel’s fault, now it’s your turn.
So don’t blame the parts when you hit the curb,
It’s the bad blueprint that’s truly absurd!

So next time your bike’s givin’ you some grief,
Check the design, man, and save your beef!
Materials are strong, they’ll take the strain,
But a bad design’ll leave you in pain!
Remember the lesson, don’t be a fool,
Materials don’t fail, designs do!

There is a reason Enigma moved from lifetime warranty to 10 years. No doubt driven by that well known frame that cracked which the guy did the funny stuff with.

Ti is great. But it’s not without its issues.

The thing I like is that it can be refinished easily and the ride is brilliant.

Legendary! 👍

I take it you managed to get your cash back for the cracked frame?

As far as road bikes go, Ti rides brilliantly and you don't have the risk of chipping the paint.
I love my spitfire.

My problem is the plastic forks that ti frames come with these days. Ti forks still seem to be a bit of a grey area (and unlike a frame, I don't think I'll trust a chinese one), and if you put a steel fork into a ti frame, you're only a couple hundred grams away from a good old-fashioned steel frame, that also rides brilliantly and costs 1/10 of ti.

Steel forks used to be lighter.
I blame liability lawyers.

But if you want disc brakes and wide tyres (and compare like for like), a steel frame is 70% the cost of ti, and could save a kilo - I mean, the steel frame needs fork too after all.

A customer of ours rode lejog on an £80 6 speed raleigh pioneer with the plastic canti arms
Another used a £3000 carbon Cannondale with ultegra hydro discs.

I don't think their fun and memories relate directly to the purchase price or weight of their bikes😂
