For sale my cougar 653 race bike with upgraded components 59 cm frame Reynolds 653
Dura ace rear mech brakes and 10 speed downtube shifters . Tiagra compact chainset 175 mm cranks . Cane creek aero brake levers cinelli stem . Planet X wheels with 10 speed cassette. Ypsion tyres . Shimano spd pedals . Overall good condition some small marks to paint no dents or damage very light and responsive ride I’m based in Preston Lancs or can arrange collection in North Yorkshire Catterick area

That’s a belter! Best riding tube set in my experience.

Certainly don’t need it but I’d be very interested in the frameset if it ever came to a split. Would be a massive shame though.

Also do people notice difference between bespoke makers like Mercian, Bob Jackson, middle layer regional builders and mass produced Raleigh and Dawes etc and finally neo steel enigma, genesis, etc.

I just watched a documentary featuring Chris Boardman on a very similar Cougar back in the early 90s. This could be the best £260 anyone spends, if you ask me. If I had the space I'd be all over this. Good luck with the sale, anyway - I hope it goes to a good home, it really deserves to.

I only asked as i have a Cougar which also has a 4 digit frame number 8538 .

This could be the best £260 anyone spends, if you ask me. If I had the space I'd be all over this. Good luck with the sale, anyway - I hope it goes to a good home, it really deserves to.
