Cougar Bike

Hi All,
Just bought this on Ebay. Its a Cougar so can anyone confirm that it could be a Dolan?

Am going to renovate but not sure if its worth making it a Dolan or sticking to the Cougar.
Its 531 so could make a team replica from the 60's -70's...
Have you any suggestions before I start working on it?

Cougar was Dolan's brand in the 90's.

If it's a Cougar it's a Cougar, not anything else. Not sure what you mean by "worth making it a Dolan" unless you're thinking it will having a higher resale value because of the Dolan transfers.

A friend of mine has a very nice 531 Cougar from the early 80s (sadly languishing in an attic somewhere) but yours looks to be later than that.

That's fine, I now seem to recall Chris Boardman riding a Cougar so may well renovate as a Cougar rather than a Dolan!!! You don't see any about but did a search and found a couple of other threads on Cougars on here so they are out there.

To my mind Cougar were made by Dolan, but the one I had had very high end tubing and full Dura-Ace as OE, so I'd stick to the Cougar brand!

Right on Retro Guru... I wont be able to look at my Cougar in the same way again!!!!

I want to build a Holdsworth Campagnolo team replica. I am going to rebuild the Cougar with some late 90's chorus and see how it rides and look around for a Holdsworth frame and then get it resprayed in team colours and use most of the campag gear that came on the Cougar to get something as near as I can to the team bikes

Just asked my wife to pose with the cougar bike in the shed in a sort of "Calendar Girls " pose but she just stared blankly at me and told me to have sex and travel at the same time.
