Gary Helfrich and Hazzard Harry Wallace were hand drawing the first ever Ti tubing handlebars for mountainbikes while working at FAT CITY in the mid 80s. I could understand those uber rare bars fetching this price.
Nice item, out of my price range but someone will have it.
Listings like this always get me thinking about people who might have this tier of bling on a bike without knowing what it is or its potential value.
It's not like old cars where everyone knows what's what. Bikes change hands more easily and more regularly, they get handed down, passed around, bought and sold for cash, stolen, lost and found all the time. There's probably no more than a few thousand people in the world who would even know what those bars are.
