Controversial: show us your cargo bikes

I've worked on both a Freight-8 and a Bullit when I was a courier. Freight-8 was horrible, worse bike I've ever ridden, total pig. Bullitt just felt natural. When we've more room me and the missus plan to get one.

Freight-8 and a Bullit
I haven’t ridden a Bullitt but I’d like to try one. Everyone says they’re great. The geometry is very similar to mine, only real difference is mine is about 100mm longer.

I didn’t get to try a Workcycles KR8 either, which I guess is pretty similar to the FR-eight/freight-8 (whatever you’re supposed to call them). The KR8 is much more of a family bike for ambling around on though, heavy and happy to live outside in all the weathers.

I had to go back and check my pictures then!

What do you want to know? Had it since 2008, it's really reliable and makes great coffee!
They're very capable machines. And respond well to a few modifications as well! Steam wand and pressure adjustment etc. 😁

Great thread. Im a big fan of cycling for "utility" purposes, going places to do stuff, buy stuff, or collecting stuff, and cargo bikes that take to the max. I'd love to see a forum for utility cycling on here, but I don't run the place and pay the bills.

I love my cargo bikes as well but retrobike is not really relevant to the cargo scene but we could maybe just start a cargo thread in this section, a thread where everyone can show what they have.
A ‘show us your cargo bike’ thread??

Jamie

I don't mind if this thread becomes a Retrobike cargo thread for everyone. There's a long-running one on LFGSS but there are a lot more cargo users and couriers on there than here. I've got an update to put here later today anyway: I've brought it into work to finally tap the box mounting holes and put some threaded inserts in. Date on the Helicoil package is Feb 2021, so it's only taken me a year to get around to it! Will take some pics without the box etc.

Wow, great car and great cargo bike. Some other great cargo bikes too!
This is egging me on to finally get around to converting an old child trailer into a cargo trailer (well this thread and the increasing cost of diesel, and a desire to be more sustainable etc).
Rich.

I got a BOB Yak cargo specific trailer in the mid 1990s and the thing is still going and going and going. If you are going to use the trailer to haul cargo and not little people, I would highly recommend it over a conversion. It has much better handling, since it attaches on both sides at the rear dropouts and rides on the mid-line of the bike, so it doesn't pull one way or another.

You can even attach the child trailer (without child, of course) to the BOB, for even more capacity and even less speed :) (although you probably void every single applicable warranty when you do):

On that note, we actually recently just bought a purpose built cargo bike. It's an Urban Arrow, and more aircraft carrier than bike, but it does do its job.
