Contemplating a ultra lightweight Titanium bike

Have you checked if you can get a new standard Titanium frame with downtube shifter bosses ?
I don't think you can, and then it will have to be custom.
The other problem: On the new frames the downtube is usually huge which makes the DT shifter positions weird and they stick out a lot. It will also force you to use both hands for shifting. Don't know about you but when I run DT shifters I use my right hand for both shifters.
I ended up with barend shifters. Not as nice as DT shifters on a steel bike but you can shift when standing in the drops.

more than they could! The UCI have a minimum weight rule, their argument being insufficient material makes things unsafe. I'm not sure what that limit is, but over 6kg I think.oonaff":213mqolp said:. but does anyone know what the lightest bikes

ah yes i see the bars now ,they look ok ! as well as sloping down tubes i have an intense dislike for those all in one carbon bars and stem[whilst i appreciate that they are both stronger and lighter than conventional quill or a head system and a natural progression... boy are they ugly !!
