Confusing Kona

Hi,
I recently picked up an old Kona off a mate to make into a pub bike but on seeing it was a 96 Fire mountain I thought a restoration project might be in order... however its not a 96 fire mountain is it? the colour & stickers suggest it is but the cable routing say its 99 or older.

having browsed a few ¨what kona¨ threads on here I've pooled as much info as I can to help identify it but I still need some help.

OneDrive doesnt seem to want me to hotlink pictures but you can find them all here https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=3 ... lder%2cJPG

Here goes:
BB No. GX927267
The Dropouts are stamped with Kona
DT External Dia ~32mm
TT External Dia ~32mm
TT C-C 555mm
ST External Dia ~28.5mm
SP Dia 26.8mm
All the tubes have a constant Dia without flaring
HT 110mm
15/18” ST Length
Chainstays are smooth indents not particularly deep

All this leads me to think that its a low to mid level frame from 99 but other than that I'm stumped. Unfortunatly I cant weigh it as there is a BB stuck in there and my mate got it second hand so there is no history of what it was or why it was repainted & restickered.

Any help is much apreciacted

The decals are all wrong in spacing, so you are in 'anyone's guess' territory. I'm not sure there is a lot available on decoding Kona serial numbers, unlike Marin.

Re:

It's definitely a Kona, but not sure what year or model; I have 1994 Fire Mountain and your frame is not the same, different cable stop positions for one.

Re:

Yeah its definitely 99 or later. If I could get the weight that might help narrow it down a bit but as yet the bb is still stuck in there
