Compressionless cables

Hi all
Sorry if this is a discussion that has come up many times before but I was hoping for some clear input for dual pivot callipers specifically.

I’m building up a bike with full Shimano 600 and only have a couple final bits to get. The one that I’m struggling the most with is Compressionless vs non-Compressionless brake outers.
Most of the discussions on forums so far have been focused on their use with disc brakes, or at the least V brakes, from what I have come across.

My main qualms are that:
1) The cable outer won’t fit with the derailleurs, or cable guide bosses.
2) There will be rather limited gains considering a very decent proportion of the cable is not housed, for example when running across the top/down tubes (dt shifters). Furthermore, if I’m having to use normal coiled cable for the drops and join them with a ferrule, there is even less, or am I totally missing something here?
3) I can’t *think* I’ve had any issues with correctly set up brakes in the past, using normal random bits of mismatched cables. But I don’t want to use this as a reason to not experience something better/more longevity.

I like the Celeste blue or organic green from jagwire, or would be happy to consider titanium in other brands. The other two main brands seem to be Yokozuna or Aican which are considerably more expensive. As a student it seems to be quite costly and that there isn’t too much option. I couldn’t find the wiggle lifeline Compressionless stuff from a quick search which would have been ok to look into. I believe shimano doesn’t make a Compressionless housing?

Does anybody have any experience comparing the two with a similar set of brake calipers and would be able to offer any input on my concerns listed above?
If it was possible to buy the housing per m easily then that would probably be the best option! Any links to where it is possible to do this would also be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Awesome thanks both, I appreciate!

That’s what I thought originally but guess I needed confirmation from somewhere just to be sure.
Yeah overthinking a bit - the frame is a gift from my SO so want it to be at least mostly right the first time and not a work in progress for the foreseeable. Especially not something as annoying to change as cables 👍

Correct, they won't work with derailleurs. That's because the outer on a brake is formed by the metal being in a helix and wrapped in plastic whereas a gear outer has it's strands set lengthwise and wrapped in plastic

Compressionless brake outer is basically gear outer with a kevlar mesh around it to stop it blowing apart under heavy load.
It's useful for full length runs on cable discs, removes a bit of the spongey feeling. I wouldn't bother on rim brakes.
