Columbus MAX or Reynolds...?

It no longer has the original paint and stickers. I changed the fork, put a carbon one from Columbus and also updated the Campagnolo 10x2 group.

I have also come to the conclusion that people are prepared to pay a lot of money for them. Maybe one day i will find out for myself instead of just reading about just how good they are.

I fancied a Max frame when I was younger. A French guy I used to race with had a lovely big 60cm Max, but I got the impression that he liked it because it was stiff and didn't flex much - good for a big fast finish sprinter like him, but I'm not sure it would be very comfortable ride over the distance.

I've had a EL-OS frame before from Maxi Sports and it was a really great bike to ride, and lightweight. The other problem with the Max frames is they are HEAVY... If you're a bigger rider and put out quite a bit of grunt I think it could be a good solution, otherwise I would definitely plump for EL-OS, there are plenty nice ones out there, and a few Bianchi Celeste

Hillary Stone is a bloke from the UK, have met him on the job at cycle jumblies

He's also got a pied a terre in the south of France, near Carcassonne! Stays same street as my pal, though I don't think he rides the bike much or carries any stock there. Hard to tell with Hillary, a man of mystery!

Here is one I sold some time ago - Columbus SLE Ellitico or MiniMax - tubes were similar to Max, but stays not as beefy. Built by Vetta Itally.

+1 for Brain, although every time I see the decal I think 'Brian!'

EL and EL-OS are both great tubesets, especially the oversize. Very popular in France and Spain.

I think the top end Bianchi are Genius tubed but could be wrong
