Colnago Precisa Forks, Salvageable?

Not my bike, but a guy in our club bought this from an estate sale, obviously it's been long term stored in an humid environment. The head lugs look saveable, but I think the forks are a goner. No real experience restoring chrome, what think you? Worth the effort or bin jobs?

Hard to tell from the pics - depends if the chrome has flaked off, or it it's just rust growth outside the chrome. Need to see what's under the rust, it might be salvageable

assuming the fork is structurally sound, it would be worth painting.

Rechroming would most likely cost as much as a good condition fork is worth, around £200.
It's pretty much flaked off. I think they could be sanded back to the metal and maybe repainted, but this is a Master X Light, and I very much doubt a single colour paint would do the frame any justice. Shame. Even a half decent set of second hand forks 200-250 😫

Still, I know how much the bugger paid for it 🤣🤣
