Re: My Colnago Master MTB

That just oozes class.

I can't honestly believe that Colnago ever expected anyone to ride one off road, I mean really off road, through mud and gravel and all the crap we usually thrash our bikes through.

Re: My Colnago Master MTB

Thanks again Neil,
still ttoying with the tyres, I may try Schwalbe supermotos

the orginal master mtb's were in some pretty sore colour schemes

Re: My Colnago Master MTB

I like Smart Sam's, as they are useful on the trails but still pretty good on tarmac, without too much rolling resistance.

Re: My Colnago Master MTB

I'll have a look see, cheers
I have a pinarello mtb with campagnolo gruppo, bar pedals and hs, that I'm renovating which will be a dark colour and be for off road,
I'd like to find a used crankset, as this is nos , so would be a shame to scratch on off road

Re: My Colnago Master MTB

For offroad I still like Panaracer Fire XC Pro's. I have found them to be excellent all round tyres and they cope with pretty much everything, even thick mud (up to a point). In really gloopy conditions I use Panaracer Trailrakers and they have taken me though thick mud that was well over the rim and up steep muddy climbs.

I have tried a few of the Schwalbe range and found them all pretty competent, although I am not a fan of the Nobby Nick's as I found on two different bikes, they have a nasty tendency of losing traction at the back under heavy braking. This may suit the modern riders, but I don't care for it.

There is almost too much choice these days, which is why I've stuck with the Panaracers, as I know what they are like and I can often get them cheap on ebay

Re: My Colnago Master MTB

This VERY VERY NICE! Indeed it has to be one of the prettiest builds on the site,...
Was this a frame and fork from eastern europe perhaps? I watched one of these on ebay like a hungry vulture for months. You are indeed a very very lucky fella..
Props on yer build, when it's done please let me ride it.....
