@toby1974 Congratulation to find such a Beauty. And have a lot of great pleasure during build up of this bike.

In my opinion this has been the most beautiful bike made by Colnago. The C40 1st Gen. in this livery had been used by Lampre-Panaria Team during season 1995. At the beginning they rode on a blue-white steeelmade Master Piu but mid of season especially Maurizio Fondriest and Pavel Tonkov Changed to the C 40

...meanwhile @toby1974 here have a preview to look at a Lampre-Panaria C40 equipped with Shimano Dura Ace 7410.

But it was a fact that in procycling from end of 80s and 90s a Colnago never used with a Italian group set from Vicenza

Did Lampre use Masters in 1995? In 1993 Fondriest was on a Carbitubo.

Sorry - Mike but this bike is like all my others absolute unsalable too.

here the corresponding famous Team Jersey, which colours are the composition of the 2 most important coulours in Italian cycling.
Pink for the Maglia Rosa of Giro d'Italia and the blue - the Italian National coulour Azzuro.

Re:

Carbitubos are gorgeous too   Also out of my price league though :(

I wouldn't say the Lampre blue is Azzuro , Gridno. That's more of a pale blue
I had both long and short sleeved versions BITD

Mike

yes they did in the beginning of Pro-Season 1995 ...

Re:

When Fondriest was beaten by Jaja in Milan - San Remo ?

Another classy rider. Wasn't aware they were using those in '95 though

Mike

... tale on coulours of the Jersey is ...

that familiy of Lampre Company thought about the coulours of the Jersey of their Cycling Team.
Then the Donna (Grandma) of the Lampre family came to the final decision that the Jersey should emblematize Italians Cyclings most important coulours - pink and blue ... or in Italian language rosa e azurro
