Cockpit views

I think it was opened by the council back in the 80s.. back then it was all about who could get around the track the quickest with a starting gate down a ramp.. double whoops, berms and a tabletop.. the council stopped maintaining it after the BMX boom and it became a bit overgrown so riders took it over.. and as you can see, as BMX has evolved, nobody gives a crap about speed anymore, it's all about height and style..

When i was a kid, I bust my front tooth on that track when i took a slam on my Kuwahara so i had to have it capped till i stopped growing, I had it crowned when i got to 16.. when i was 20 i bust my ankle there but after writhing around in agony for a while, i kept riding till the sun went down.. chucked my Zaskar in the back of my £550 Mk2 Fiesta and drove home (with a broken ankle).. the next day my ankle was massive and heavily bruised so i went to get it x-ray'd / plastered.. it was my right foot so i couldn't press the accelerator in the car but rather than use public transport, i used one of the crutches they gave me to press the accelerator with left foot breaking.. i was a much less responsible adult in those days 😁.. after a few weeks, i had it down to a fine art..
 
BMX has evolved, nobody gives a crap about speed anymore, it's all about height and style..
That's why I was shocked about the size of some of the jumps, the track in my town is all about racing. It's actually a National Standard track. We have sanctioned races here, the 2022 Nationals had a stop here, Provincial Qualifiers, etc. Speed is the thing out track is made for.
