Clicking, creaking headset...

If that's the case have you checked the seatpost/saddle?

or the cables twisting in the cable stops, or some plastic bit somewhere, wheel... could be anything.

If you really clamp the headset so it is stiff, does it still click ?
 
my 2 cents- if it's already a decent cartridge bearing headset- make sure there's a thin film of grease on ALL metal-to-metal contact areas.........
 
Seems to be barely noticable now. My main worry is could it damage the frame? Doesn't it overalize the headtube?
 
that's only if it's loose and an integrated headset. Loose conventional headsets may ovalise the headset lower, but not the frame.

Apply the front brake and rock the bike back and forward - if there is any movement tighten the headset. If you can only get the movement to stop if the headset is so tight it won't steer, then it's new headset time.
