Cleaning and polishing techniques and products

Hello, first post and just getting into the retro thing. Have some campagnolo parts coming in need of some cleaning up and, as it says in the title, just wondering what techniques/tips people can give for getting tarnished parts pristine.

I just saw this the other day-a pretty comprehensive guide to polishing and has another page on touch-ups... The sheer quality and niceness of his bikes is enough to keel over though!

I'm cleaning up an Ali Marin with

1600 grit wet/dry paper and a lot of soapy water, T-Cut, Autosol in that order. Seems to come up quite nicely.
