Well it won't excite that many folk, as 'dripping with oddles of Shimano Altus' is rarely a grand opening gambit.
Neither are the Kalin bar ends made from recycled Fray Bentos pie tins.
Nor is the Reynolds CrMo sticker going get many salivating.
Also, I'm sure like myself, rapidly approaching my half century, there are more than a few that remember the callouses and blisters instantaneously manifesting after half a mile with those SRAM grips.
And I'm not entirely sure how anyone without full size man hands can effectively use those Shimano brake levers either?
I'm not really selling this well am I?

Yes, it's just Shimano Altus, but it's the full set, and it still works.
Likewise the SRAM MRX grip shift does what it should.

It is all original too, right down to the Tioga resin pedals.
24 years old, every single bit of it as happily bang average as it was lovingly cobbled together by Falcon cycles in 1997. Flat bar ATB, wasn't even ever called an MTB

I've got a shed full of bike bits and could easily upgrade every single component.
But I've also got a Specialized Rockhopper Pro Disc which may far more kerb appeal, and yes it's also still 100% standard 13 years later in it's full Deore etc etc. Horses for courses and all that jazz.
So I won't change a thing on this. I can't bring myself to do it, so don't ask me for just the Phychos to stick on your flashy Marin Nail Trail. There's too much James May 'keep it standard' in me.
It may not turn many heads, or win any prizes, and it certainly won't make me rich.. but it'll still make you smile. (Unless going up a hill! )

It's monster presence, is however still utterly terrifying at full speed, and you don't have to worry about anything or anyone in your way.... they'll move first, and quickly. Lycra and carbon shredding joy.

I've almost finished cleaning it all up. It's scrubbed up alright all things considered.
Then it'll have to vacate the shed to pastures new as I need to crack on with the many other builds waiting their turn. Hopefully someone who has more space will take pity on it, and it'll get to keep its Psycho boots on for a wee bit longer.

Good morning Peachy!, and hello.
Oddly enough it was trawling through many of your both highly informative and entertaining posts that got me to sign up.
I was trying carbon date, (or CrMo date?) my Muira unsuccessfully as it appeared to fall into the few catalogues missing from here and elsewhere.
That, and it being from their lower end snow plough, ice breaker & steam roller range may not actually achieve catalogue status.
At some point I had a face palm moment when I saw the Falcon cycles log book was printed July 97 amongst the pointlessly stored 24 year old SRAM and Shimano instructions, and could've saved myself many hours of needless research.
So I've dated it as such until proven otherwise.
The CB research kept steering me your direction, and I got massively sidetracked reading about your 50s restoration posts as I'm trying to both generate enough funds and mentally prepare myself for my first full scale balls deep restoration of the beast shown below. My late uncle's mid 50s ish The Scot, touring version of The Flying Scot with a set of spare equally rusty campag flip flop track wheels.
It may be my winter project although probably end up next year by the time I've dilly dallied around the other stuff that needs to get sold, cleaned and sold, built and sold whilst I carry on getting sidetracked reading other folks restoration projects.
I'll put some posts in the correct area at some point nearer the time.
But the Muira, amongst other sales will hopefully fund a no holds barred resto of this. It'll probably be the only 100% all in one I do, so I'm being patient. (Just terrified & procrastinating really)
As for the Muira, all I want to do is have a nostalgic blast down the High Peak Trail now it's all running smoothly in the next week or so. Then just finish cleaning it up and checking it's still 'standard' for a few parting photos. I'll be happy to let it go towards the end of the month, and it can stay on my wall until someone wants it whole, warts n all.
It'll be 100% mechanically sound, original as possible, and fairly shiny throughout.
There's some clear coat scratches bottom of seat tube from tethering outside many pubs, and one gravel rash patch on left fork tang. I repaired the saddle as it was separating, but it's pretty good now. Otherwise the paintwork is pretty good for its age. There is the original reflectors on chromed / stainless arms, and a relatively pointless blank Falcon cycles issue logbook / guarantee & associated component dataaheets.
Can send further pictures, info or videos of the hubs & rims spinning happily & fairly true.
It's not going on Ebay. I use it wherever I get reduced fees to sell fix and flip bikes, but generally my better ones are sold through word of mouth or just kept until I run out of space and then going to a good home.
You can have a think as a much more accomplished restoration expert and CB aficionado than myself what it's worth to you. It doesn't owe me that much, I'm not necessarily looking for the highest bidder, and would be happier if this went to someone who wanted the bike, and not pulled apart. I know I'd get more stripping it down, but I personally only break damaged or previously bastardized bikes I stumble across. I make occasional decent profits from the odd auction on bikes and parts, so sometimes I just revert to sentimentality over sensibility and I won't pull it apart to make a few extra quid sending tyres and rims halfway across Europe.

That Scot looks like a very worthwhile project, I look forward to seeing that come together over on the road sections readers bikes area.
As for dating the Miura, you are correct it’s definitely 1997 without any doubt.
