Yeah, those SKF cups are a good entry in the 'bad ideas for a bottom bracket design' list, which is sadly quite a long list...

I do think that frame is a good candidate for a repaint - as nice as the old graphics were originally, they had gone past the point of being worth keeping.

Bit of a sad end to this story (possibly).

The local powder coater I chose messed up the finish, promised to sort it then went out of business. The frame was returned to me without charge but with numerous issues with the powdercoat.

In the 7(!) months they had it the parts I'd bought for this bike went onto another, and a further two irresistible Facebook marketplace projects fell my way.

The upshot is that this frame won't be getting built by me. I'll be popping it on the for sale as Karma shortly if anyone is willing to rescue it!
