Claud Butler Colstar

A forum member Peachy has helped me identity a Claud Butler frame as a Colstar - only been riding it for 35 years!

They suggested I post the frame number 029493 to help log the frame.

The bike sports some 700c Dave Lloyd built MA40s on Miche hubs. Original made in Italy Cinelli 1A stem. Much else has changed, although this summer the original 1980’s Ofmega bottom bracket finally gave out!

Excellent... I love mine (you might have gathered that from the time & money I've spent on it :facepalm: ) best road bike I've ever ridden.. by far!

Do you have any plans for yours? If you do plan on re-spraying it, H Lloyd cycles now has the proper name sticker (although it's not on his website yet) I created the artwork for him to reproduce it for mine, it's the only genuine 80's version even though there are others for sale.

Re: Colstar Plans

I have to say I’m working through maintaining/replacing bearings etc. Been through one of the hubs and the BB - made an error and got too wide an axle ((Campagnolo fit on token BB sits a bit too proud), so the chain line is a bit out. Next job is to sort the headset next. Trying to decide if to find a new O/S Tange, or look for a nice Campagnolo period headset. I’ve been impressed recently with a SP Dynamo hub on another bike, so thinking about getting the front wheel rebuilt with a silver version. Decisions, decisions.
