Maybe I shouldn't hi-jack this topic like this, but I have a question

I have bought a similar frameset (Claud Butler Spectre - Reynolds 653 Magnum). I have little previous experience with steel frames, so I can't compare. The ride does feel quite harsh on this bike with rigid forks. People who have similar frames : do you find some comfort/liveliness in you bike ?

I like that a lot! Anyone local?

Where were these made?

I wonder why it says its designed for hydraulic brakes?!
Or did it come with Maguras as standard?

Well, I think it's cool, and would be happy to stick it amongst my British steel...

I grew up in the area so saw loads of the lower end bikes (Spectres and Pagans mostly) but never one of these. I guess they weren't considered boutique enough for the money, hence why there isn't many around - £1000 could buy you quite a lot back in '92.

£5 at present for a 653 frame is scandalous though! It has to be worth a punt If you've a set of the brakes :)

Me too!
Why is it considered uncool? 653 lugged frame, British made, what's not to want?
Wrong label I suppose.

Wrong label yes. I tried to sell mine a few years ago and got no takers, luckily, wouldn't part with it now.

Carl.
