S shed Senior Retro Guru Feedback View Mar 2, 2017 #1 took the claris one off and fitted the 105 one but seems to stick out further,the 105 one needs a 109.5 octaling but the claris one has a 113,will this put the chainline out too much

C cce Retrobike Rider Gold Trader Feedback View Mar 2, 2017 #2 105 5500 uses V1 octalink, Claris uses V2 octalink they're different and using the wrong one can damage the splines on the crank you can get 105 5500 bottom brackets easily enough still.
