Re: Cheap finds, Cinelli Argento Vivo and Cinelli Stratocast

sadly, a crack appeared above the tig weld on the non drive side of the seat post collar,so hope this is not a write off
I can get another Tig weld put in ,(for a crate of beer)by the guy who did the repair on my 94 colnago master rear mech hanger, so hopefully it won't be a waste

Re: Cheap finds, Cinelli Argento Vivo and Cinelli Stratocast

i'll finish up the argentovivo with chemicals. no room for error on this one,and needs a repaint anyway

Re: Cheap finds, Cinelli Argento Vivo and Cinelli Stratocast

some insight as to whether or not the stratocaster is worth saving would be appreciated
mainly intended for beater/off road use

It's got to be worth a try, as long as the cost doesn't outstrip the value.

Re: Cheap finds, Cinelli Argento Vivo and Cinelli Stratocast

the crack is just above the weld line, so repair shouldn't look too ghastly, may powder coat black after

Re: Cheap finds, Cinelli Argento Vivo and Cinelli Stratocast

got the weld done free. tig, is quite lumpy, as the split cut through the tube above the original tig line, so lost part of the seatpost clamp definition, but will try to bring back, then chemically remove the rest of the post
powder coat choices are black, olive green, or the same kind of saffron orange
