A really nice project to renovate but don't think I'd be paying that price in the current condition....
 
The bike dates from the late 50's, not from the 40's and most if not all the components have been switched out over time. Likely sold new in Germany and updated over time.

Brakes and Mechs looks particularly low rent on a £1200 bike. :shock:

I wonder how much the offer is... someone wants it, evidently.
 
Seller did his research on Bikeforums, so no wonder he got such great advice. The missing original fork is a real deal killer in my book

I would place the frame early 50s, I sold a few of these mid 50s and they did not have pump pegs.
The forks kill it, monster clearance and 1950 fork rake.
Also the odd rims.
