Cinelli Integralter

I’ve taken my bike to the LBS and he just called to say the shifting isn’t very smooth when internal routed cables on the Integralter. Ive read elsewhere they can be a pain but does anyone have any advice or solutions as I’d really prefer internal routing.

Segmented cables like Jagwire Elite Link, Alligator etc if the bends are tight and it is all a bit of a squeeze. With segmented shift cables you have to make sure that all the links are properly compressed which can be a right fiddly arse running them internally.
Also; it is important that the liner is flared into the last link, of the section from shifter to first stop/adjuster, as the liner can, over time, get dragged into the shifter spool.

If done right the link systems can work a treat. If done badly they will lead to alot of cursing with index shifting.

Thanks for that. I’m just using normal cable sleeves so shouldn’t have that issue. The mechanic sent me a photo saying he’s finished. We shall find out this morning…

Have seen your pics over on LFGSS. Your mechanic is a dangerous idiot and that star nut could have done some serious damage to that carbon steerer and to you if it had failed. It is why expanding bungs were invented to prevent damage and work where a star nut destroys and then works loose.

Personally; i would have the steerer tested for fractures at the top and your mech can bloody well pay for the testing!

I must admit it’s a little concerning how blasé he seems to be about it all. I know I took him a used fork with the star nut already installed but this is where you rely on professionals to do their job and at the very least inform you of potential dangers. I’ve ordered a bung from Cinelli now so will be getting busy with the drill to remove the old nut.
