Chrome wapping a frame

Hi all.
Not too sure where to post this?
I have a couple of old road frames I'm thinking of restoring; a Columbus SLX with full chrome front and rear, and a painted 653 frame.
I can't afford to spend £400.00 re-chroming and painting the SLX, and 653 shouldn't be chromed.
I had an idea...Use car chrome vinyl wrap to "chrome" the 653 rear triangle and forks. The rear drop outs could be left painted (like some Colnago's) the forks may be a problem?
Any advice, has anyone tried this?

I haven't used the 'chrome' wrap but last year when I was in Inverness there was a painter who restores car wheels and he was using a 'chrome' type powdercoat. It looked amazing and was hard to tell these wheels weren't chrome dipped.
I would imagine its specialist stuff but cant be too uncommon. It might be an alternative for you.

Fairly sure I saw a can of chrome spray paint in possibly Halfords. No idea if it is any good or not but it is about.

got to be better than a halfords spray can although as said I have never tried the stuff.Can we have piccies when it is done please?

Aerocoat offer a very good service and mike the owner is a great guy but for a bike frame even he agree's the powder coat chrome is no good for frames as it has a small problem with flaking off over time well about a year and he's still trying to perfect the process to get it too look good and stay put. If you wanted the whole frame chromed have a word with hoxley enterprises I use them to re-chrome motorbike wheels and he has done more than a few cycle parts for me too as well as a frame, and not as expensive as you think a frame and forks re chromed was only £20 more than getting it powder coated.

Thanks for the replies. At this stage I'll probably try the chrome vinyl wrap. How hard can it be to cover a few tubes (famous last words)
If it turns out OK I'll post some pictures.
