Chrome Replating and Fork Crown Race

Hello,

I'm looking to get a chrome fork replated, but I started to wonder if this will affect the interface fit with the fork crown race. Will any new plating change the fit significantly, or
is the plating too thin to matter?

Also, I suppose I need to tell the platers not to plate over the threads on the steerer tube?

I've found a reference for a platers that's done a few forks in the past, so hopefully they will know what they are doing.

I would make sure that they don't chrome the threads cos milling chrome is not a great idea, best to tell them, in writing, to be sure

I would ask them to mask off the shoulder where the race fits over . When you add the base plate and the chrome together it can make a difference . I have learnt this to my cost after having a handle bar stem re plated . It would not fit into the fork steerer. :facepalm:
