Re:

Apparently you can pull off the retaining clip and seal, then pump some grease through, but personally I would send it to Bromley to be serviced £22, but if it needs a new bearing add £££
I have forgotten how much as it cost to have my last ti King serviced with a new bearing (just one) but I remember my eyes watering!

Re:

One bearing is smooth, one is a little rough - but I haven't tried mounting it or using it which would probably help.

As above, you can remove the retaining clip and put fresh grease in and clean the bearings up.

I thought King used sealed bearings - that's why they are virtually maintenance free

They are in that youre not required to remove the seal and regrease which is something you should actually do and any good lbs who sells CK will do that for you.
Completely knackered bearings would be replaced by CK themselves

I love my CK Ti :D

Well, actually, Bromley Bike Co will replace the bearings, and provide a comprehensive service

Useful info. How much do Bromley charge for one bearing replacement then ?

ck bearings are very expensive to buy if indeed you can find a place that sells them and has the toolage to remove the duff ones. they are so easy to repack with grease i wouldnt dream of paying bromley £22 to do it. they would need to be in a hell of mess to warrant replacement bearings as they are so good to start with

I would, and have done so with a ti headset. They do a comprehensive job

I can't remember how much one bearing and a service cost but I think it was knocking on the door of £70. I might be wrong, but it was expensive. Only worth considering with a ti headset.
