Looking for 3 items for a 1'' Nothreadset, star nut, start nut bolt and scuff washer. They are all available on the CK website for $10 all in, but shipping is $60.

Is there anywhere in the UK that stocks spares? Or failing that can I get away with using non CK the star nut and bolt?

Yep non CK star nut and bolt will be fine. Aspire Velotech was always my go to for CK but also US based so postage may still be an issue.

If you want a genuine CK star nut I’m pretty sure I’ve got a spare 1” one. Let me see if I can dig it out for you tomorrow. You can have it for the price of postage.

Earlier today I attempted to set up the stem, just to check spacer requirements etc. The bolt I used was from a syncros ahead stem which fitted fine. I was tightening the bolt but the play in the forks remained, so I kept tightening until suddenly the star nut popped out the top of the steerer tube. I had to destroy it to salvage the bolt.

Never had that happen with a star nut before. I didn't even apply that much force. I'm wondering if the persistent play in the forks was due to the absence of the scuff washer?

My CK headsets rearly have the scuff washer, they have never came loose. Maybe the play was due to the loose star nut!

Saddleback are the U.K. importer for CK, they would be a good place to try
