I remember those BITD! They came out about a year or 2 before BMX.

It was bad enough if you came down from a jump, missed the pedals, and impaled your crotch on the top tubes, but you also had to deal with the near-castration potential of that shifter. A friend of mine had the seat lowered all the way and put a really tall sissy bar on it that protected his head like a roll cage when he fell backwards onto it. Good times...

I bought a rough but running 71 MK1 Chopper for my son to do a riding restoration. He rode it once and declared it was crap and far prefers his Emmelle Slammer.
Must say, I agree.
