cheapest decent 1" steerer sus fork?

I dug out my MTB for the first time in ages yesterday (a Raleigh Firefly from around 10-12 years ago) and remembered what awesome fun riding trails is.

the only problem was that the suspension fork seemed to if anything, make the the bumps more violent, with basically uncontollable rebounding. I normally live over on the roady section and know nothing about suspension.

Are there any decent old forks with 1" steerers which are cheap? (dont want to spend much more than about £50 upgrading a bike that cost £150 a decade ago)

Or am i best leaving it as it is?

Keep an eye out for Rockshox and Marzocchi forks with no more than 60mm travel. These makes made decent forks with 1" steerers in large quantities so prices can be affordable.
I personally favour building up a bike you loved even if cheap rather than getting something you'll have to bond with all over again ;)

personally, i would flog your firefly on ebay for £50 and keep an eye out for sometning half decent on here to be honest.

if you like raleighs then plenty of summits, peaks etc from early 90s with rockshox and deore for around a £100
