Sold Cheap Shimano modern road wheels £30

I recently got these in a job lot of parts, the rims look ok, with the wear indicators clearly visible. The hubs felt slightly rough, on inspection the cones have the early stages of pitting. There are just a few small pits, but I like things 100% therefore the cones and bearings need replacement. You can get complete axle assemblies for £14.99 on eBay including cones and balls (Woolly Hat Shop). I don’t have a bike to fit them to, so I can’t be bothered!

Tyres and tubes not included.

Modern wheels featuring cone & cup seem an oxymoron to me... Or am I just to old?

Maybe they still think people maintain their bikes and with regular servicing pitting shouldn’t happen too frequently. Sadly, people just ride it until it breaks.

There is probably less friction and better lateral load distribution on a cup / cone system than a caged roller too.

My new bike I bought a year ago that has sealed bearings has just had it’s first set. That’s progress for you.
