Cheap Cannondale

Hi people,

I've promised a bike to a work colleague for free?!? I guess in exchange for some cycling karma :)

I've got pretty much everything in the spare parts bin at home, apart from the frame and forks doh! I had intended using my old Specialized M2, but after trying to fit the bottom bracket today I've discovered the bb shell is totally dead.

The colleague in question really wanted a cannondale so since the M2 is caput! I'm on the hunt for a 17 to 18 inch (medium) frame and forks must have canti bosses. Apart from that I will consider anything that is dirt cheap!

Thanks

Re:

Not a Cannondale but the size is right. It does have a stuck stem but I've not put any effort in trying to remove it. Would imagine it won't be too hard to do plus the headset is smooth and the stem is straight!

Re:

Thanks Raidan73,

I should of probably said aheadset only. Although I'm building and giving this bike away for free I think your frame has too much of a retro feel for my colleague. I know beggars can't be choosers but some people just don't understand the beauty in every bike

Re:

No problem, a cheap Cannondale shouldn't be too hard to find :)

Re:

Thanks for the heads up that would be perfect but.............. in order to reduce the cost I need to use as many 'parts bin' components as possible. So the frame needs to have forks with it @ 1 1/8 and be threadless

The search continues

Keep searching on Ebay.My first three Cannondale frames, all with pepperoni forks, cost me £34,£26 and £28.I have seen others go through in the same range.Basically these are the sort of prices they achieve if the bidding is started at £0.99 and the market finds its level.

With the boot on the other foot I bought a complete Cannondale bike for parts and sold on the frame+rockshock quadra forks for £20 (single bid on a 10 day auction)

I recently bought a complete Cannondale 1992 bike for £52 and sold the wheels for £50,giving me a frame and pepperoni forks for £2!

No offence to those seeking to unload cannondale frames only for "normal" money, but there is no love for Cannondales as is proved by the number of unsold frames I have bookmarked on Ebay recently.

I have attached an image of the £28 frame made up,it came complete with a fresh powder coat job.
