Opinoins on the Charge Splashback

Good or bad.

Seem only 1,8 size avable at the moment, is it big or small to stated size?

Re:

The 1.8 comes up a bit bigger than you'd expect, maybe 1.9/small 2.0, the bigger 2.1 size is pretty much as you'd expect size wise for the carcass but the tread sticks out a bit at the side so they look like a 2.2. The 1.8s weigh in at ~450 - 480g on my scales, the 2.1 is nearer 620 - 650g, not the 520g they quote!

They are absolutely fantastic on dry hardpack mud, roll quick but still have good traction and braking, they're pretty good on dry rock too, in mild damp soil they are tolerable, the edges still bite but the centre tread can slip a bit. However, show them wet roots or wet rock and they WILL kill you, mercilessly and without warning, normally by ejecting your bike sideways from underneath you at just the wrong moment!

The casing is actually really nice and supple, higher pressures (> 35psi) are still very comfortable, and normal/low pressures are amazingly cushy but they can be a bit squirmy under hard cornering because of it so best paired with a wider rim if you're going to run lower pressures.

Basically I like them quite a bit, and still ride them in the wet, just with a fair degree of caution on anything rooty!

This is a perfect review.

Well my riding is sand, base rock and roots, dry or wet. Sounds like not the ideal tire then. But the look is right so maybe for the one that only come out sunny days. Thanks for the replays!

Fine for dry bridleways, disused railway lines and the road. Very cheap, but actually I think they looks gash

Smoke classics, cost a load more but much nicer

I bought some which turned out to be bad mouldings. They ride like a motorbike in a speed wobble on and off road. Bought for £18, used once then thrown in the bin.

I have heard stories of them being brilliant however, sounds like I got a bad pair.

Funny how both of them were bad though, don't you think.

The first review is spot on. I got on fine with them last summer, found them fast and stable, then on the first wet ride they wiped out on a corner and I broke a bone in my hand.

Re:

They are total shite with paper thin sidewalls, you definately get what you pay for.

Spend a little extra and get some decent tyres instead!! :)
