Charge Splashback

I just bought my 2nd set (£12 for two inc postage !!!).
First set cost twice that and were a bargain at that price.

I use them on my everyday rider. Cycle paths, wet/muddy copse, farm tracks, rough tarmac gravel, streams they eat it all up.
The comments on their wet performance seem a bit unfair, they're still way better than slicks and roll better than full XC.

Re:

As with the many other threads if you do a search..

I find them fine and can ride them really well. I run them at their minimum pressure for me.

The only thing you need to get used to is the transition to grip at the corners as some just cannot get on with that. They're more like older tyre in that respect, say smokes or psycho's. Not these endge rolling stuff like modern contis and schwalbes aim for the same general use market.

I do find if riding along a narrow dropped track/trench, say on the moors, the edges can grab and pull you up the edge. Which is annoying.

For the price, just get some and try them. Evrybodies styles, places and bikes are different.

Re:

i stand by what i said.... i ran them on my zaskar for less than a month, they were rubbish. somebody reffered to them on my build thread as "clown tyres"

Re:

I rate them, grip well in the corners, not so great in anything muddy though.
But relatively light, fast rolling, and cheap.
Smoke Classisc are more expensive but are a better all round tyre imo.
I guess you get what you pay for.

My smokes were £62, splashbacks were £27. Panaracer smokes are worth the extra 35 quid ALL DAY LONG :p

Re:

They come up big as I had the larger 2.1's and it was tight, I would if I were ordering another set, order the 1.8's.

A pair can now be had for £17.99 which includes delivery on the bay. Would I fit them to a garage queen? no, would I fit them to a downhill or extremely wet and muddy trials run? probably not but for everything else they work quite well and are excellent value for money with an added bonus of a tan sidewall.
