Chainsets for old legs

Would retro-era MTB cranks be of any interest? Campag could look ok.
This Icarus can use cassette sprockets for the middle and inner, so if the rings supplied aren’t suitable you could theoretically fit the lowest gearing known to mankind! -

Front Canti Lever Arms Only with missing parts highlighted yellow.

Good replacement for a set badly corroded or damaged.
Please see photos for condition.

2) Campagnolo Icarus Chainset 170mm, Reduced £65 posted UK
A set of Campagnolo Shield decals is included.
Please note one of the bolts is too long so will need to be cut or replaced (3rd photo).
Crank bolt dust covers are mismatched.
Used condition please see photos.

3) NOS Campagnolo Record O.R Right Brake Lever, Reduced £50 posted UK
Or swap for left...

I'd forgotten about that weirdness, it is, I think, theoretically, a brilliant idea only brought down by Campagnolo Campagnolo'ing it up by immediately sacking off the idea and changing the cassette splines so 35 years later it is nigh on impossible to find the requisite parts.

As I say, brilliant in theory.

I take it that the middle and smallest rings are held in place by a locking ring. Unique to campagnolo?
Also what's the spacing arrangement between the two ?

Also you don't have to use a splined/cassette sprocket for the middle ring - a standard can be used with spacers and longer bolts.

So I could use it as a double chainset ?
I think I have binned all my old campagnolo cassettes long ago as they had shot it .

I don't see why you couldn't use it as a double.
It's a 110 BCD outer by the way.

One small concern is finding the right length bolts and spacers to create a double chainset.
Plenty of options for 110 bcd chain rings.

It comes with 42 / 30 outer and middle. Could you just remove the inner for the time being, until the middle wears out?

Ok, I’ve been thinking about this as I don’t want to misadvise you. There might be a slight complication with replacement 'outer' rings.
Unlike most rings the outer fits on the back of the spider, so the holes aren’t countersunk on the front (for the bolt head), but on the back to receive the nut like a middle ring.
Is this an issue? I don’t know really. It’s easy to drill a workable countersink, I’ve done it before. Or a replacement ring could just be flipped round maybe, as long as it doesn’t have shifting ramps etc…
