Chainring advice

Hi,

I would like to replace the chainrings on my crank but I am a bit rubbish with terminology etc..

My existing crank has
110 46T 9SPD
110 36T 8SPD
74 24T 8SPD

Does the ring setup look to be correct.

I want to replace them with plain black rings with no markings.

I am using a XTR M900 groupset with a 175mm topline crank.

Thanks

Typical was 24/26 36/38 46/48.
So yes perfectly fine.
Yours are ATB (or now Compact Road) sizes.

Get a ramped outer and if possibly a ramped middle. Then a nice looking granny ring too.

Only when they went compact did they go smaller.

Hi,

I have just looked at my Raceface ones and I think they the outer and middle rings use pins.

Do you have any examples I could look at for reference.

Thanks

Theres lots of brands out there from cheese to brilliant.

If your not looking for exact retro replacements try TA Zephyr/ zelito......ive used that combo for years very good, last a long time and shift well.

Or spa cycles do an own brand budget range for not much money .

The inners are steel and almost never wear out. However, an alloy one like a TA is a small weight saving.
I'd 100% recommend TA - the rings are hardened, accurate and beautifully finished. Shimano are very poor by comparison and don't last nearly as long.

It's only one experience and I don't know whether it is to be expected, but I did have a TA (I think Zephyr) chainring shatter into several pieces when a crank spider failed.
