I've just figured out exactly where I went wrong. One of the sides notes inwards on it which I did but attaching it at the bottom below the cassette. Obviously when it reached the cassette it was upside down. :facepalm:
Oh well problem solved and I've got a spare cassette which is handy as 3 of my bikes use the same cassette, 2 of which will be doing the 24hour solo so a spare will be useful.
