.... actually the type 2 do exist, made by shimano.

There is a spacer with six holes that goes over the low profile bolts. Although it will be slightly heavier than the prong type, there is less chance of backlash once the bolts are done up.

My modern came with Formula 6-bolt rotors on centerlock hubs using an adapter with the regular 6 pins, and there was some serious play. Then changed to Hope Saw rotors and that made it even worse.

Just today I had a set of XT rotors installed and all the play and the initial clanking noises are gone.
