cassette free hub... have i killed it

Oil isnt getting to those bearings without at least dismantling the axle and removing the freehub. Any that does get in will be so contaminated with grit and general crap as to be as good as grinding paste.
Take the axle out and split the freehub body. Pull the seal out the back side,you can grease the rear bearings from there. You wont get to the central bearings but neither should the parrifin have.

thanks novocaine... just looked at how to remove the freehub body.. seems i need a magnetic screw driver which i dont have at the minute. ill see if we have one at work.
 
If I recall correctly, Shimano freehub body removal requires removal of the spindle first, followed by use of a 10mm hex tool. Maybe yours is similar, maybe not.

Magnetic screwdriver? What the heck for?
If its for removing the bearings then you dont need one really. Or use a speedo magnet on any old driver.

Its axle out then 10 or 11mm allen key normally.

Yer you don't need a magnetic screwdriver for that. Put a blob of grease on the end of your screwdriver and let it stick to the bearing.
I prefer to put the race cap back in then set the bearings on the drive side and insert the axle. Flip the hub over and drop the none drive side bearings in before fitting the cap and redoing the cones etc. With gloves on you can just put them in without the help of a screwdriver at all (grease of your fingers might contaminate the bearing and cause galling,although this is extremely unlikely in a bike hub).

Id say bring it over to warrington and ill run it through with you, but i cant see my workbench right now thanks to having no time at all to spend in the shop.

It's not a shimano hub, it doesn't have loose bearings. From what i can find on line, it's a rebadged DMR Revolver with shimano pattern freehub.
Should be able to find exploded diagrams somewhere.

Just need to get the endcaps off, pull the freewheel body off and clean it all up and some fresh grease on the pawls.
Ignore all the references to shimano hubs. You'll just end up chasing your tail looking for components that don't exist!

Its still a shimano style freehub body the pawls are within the freehub rather than in the hub, what you see there is the drive splines.
So half right,end caps off, knock the bearing races out.
Remove the freehub. Once you've got to this stage well talk about spliting the freehub to access the internal bearings, in not 100% on the arrangement of the outer locking ring in the freehub (having not worked on a dmr hub in 15 odd years).
you might get away with lifting the seal on the back of the freehub and smearing some grease behind it but as before you'll only get the back bearing not the centre. You may find theres a seal on the front side too.

The planet x hubs used on road wheels a few years ago were crap anyway. I've seen a few half dozen or so intermittently fail mid ride.
They may be better now, I dunno
