Carrera Kraken 1999 - thoughts?

Hi, I’ve been offered a 1999 Carrera Kraken for £75. Looks like it’s been garaged and hardly used at all. Perfect paintwork, no rust. It has a thicker back tire to the front. Overall looks immaculate. Any thoughts? CF953F57-F2AD-4D69-A513-1DA7803F9F42.jpeg

If you like it and you have a use for it buy it. It's not really anything special, nor is it particularly 'classic ' in terms of quality, specification or age, but it does look to be in good condition.

It could make you a good commuter, pub bike or tow path warrior, even winter hack if that's what you want. I'd try and knock the price down a bit, but some prices are unrealistically high at the moment.

Whatever you decide to do enjoy, and welcome to Retrobike.

It’s this Kracken or a British eagle boss bike as the alternative for £70. Sellers won’t go any lower on each bike. The Kracken looks in great condition. Appreciate it’s not a classic bit will be used on trails and rough terrain for a bit of fun. Given the two what would you choose? Thanks

If these are the only two options then it makes sense to go with the Carrera as it looks to be in better condition. Although the suspension forks look to be compressed. I'd go look at the Carrera, apply the front brake and push down on the bars to make sure the forks work. If they won't budge and neither will the seller - walk away. I wouldn't bother with the Boss at all.
Other than that, unless you're really desperate I'd keep looking
