Looks great, one thing I would say id the head badge should the earlier type. The old Carlton CC type as opposed to the cycling man.

To be honest, I wasn't sure. The bike was resprayed in the '70s and they put the "man on a bike" logo on then. I did have a quick search to see what it would have been originally, and a few sites seemed to suggest that it would have been the same in the '50s, so I went with that.
I was surprised that there was no sign of rivet holes for a metal badge when I stripped the paint off.

A little update with some final pictures.
It has all ended up looking quite nice, so I'm really pleased :

Nice from what I can see, dont think the first image is loading, at least not here...
Just come across this thread & I can tell you that I have an early Carlton Mixte with SN C00353.... On L/H dropout & steerer.
I believe that the initial C relates to a period of 3 years from 1948/51.
The V-CC ME (Marque Enthusiast) 'retired' a couple of years ago & his Carlton website is no longer live unfortunately. Dave Marsh seems to have taken over the name, but hasn't got much content on it yet. (He used to work for Carlton so it might be good to ask his opinion??)
I'll put up some pics if there is any interest in mine, meanwhile a couple of pics on my (under construction currently) website here:
