If you turn it into a 10-speed model you will need a longer BB spindle and of curse the double chain wheel and a new double lever. Is the steering shot? or BB bearings?

You can sometime find the old Raleigh 3-pin double chainsets on ebay.

The steering was very notchy. So I have stripped it down and the bearings look fine.
the cups do look at first glance to be worn.
I have bought the simplechromed work so that I can give it a bath in our chem cleaner, and i am going to find out about getting the frame dipped and re chromed

That picture is a lot different to the one you posted earlier, it's all red and no black plus it looks smaller........ or is it me?

You can pay the same for re chroming the frame as I did for my V reg Renault clio !!

I stripped the simplex down at work today and found that a jockey wheel had been damaged.
Luckily I live 5mins away from Mercian's shop.

Don't you just undo the nut, use some wd40 then tap with a mallet?
