If none of the above succeed, and you have a chest freezer, you could do worse than chilling them out. The contraction rates should differ from the carbon to the metal and hopefully the bung might then get freed up & you can then tap it out as above..

Not entirely sure how, as a lot of cider and some swearing was involved, but no violence or whipping....

Think the bent spoke and turning the thing upside down so I could hear it fall were involved, but it was well stuck in there. Now all screwed back together, and the Orange SS is finally finished, fairly lightweight and looking very weird, but it rides like a dream, so all is well.

Thanks for all the suggestions chaps, perseverance and patience were never my strong points.... :facepalm:
