Carbon Fibre

We’re hardy folk is RB’ers. We’ll be fine. After all we survived the 90’s when most of us had a very bad bout of purple-itis. Some have never fully recovered.

I think the issue is working with the stuff more than having a formed final product? Carbon fiber dust is nasty stuff - like fiber glass and asbestos.

Unlike asbestos I think CF can be better controlled and disposed of. Have you ever seen the old videos of people working in asbestos mines? Regulations may make it more costly to work with CF, but that doesn’t seem unreasonable.

We are too invested in CF for it to be banned. Planes are full of it, for example. I can see restrictions in place on the amount that some industries can use, like cars for example, and manufacturers and/or end users having to pay 'specialists' to take it away, like asbestos, but it will be around forever more.
CF is being recycled, here and there, and that is good to keep the destruction in a controlled area and recover as much as possible.

It is nasty stuff and there does need to be ALOT more education about how unhealthy it is. It is amazing really that even after it having been around so long , and it is something you can buy and make stuff out of in your shed , it still takes random people on forums to tell people to cut it wet, wear gloves, wear a mask ffs because they see pics of people playing with it like it is toy safe.
