Cantilever brake pull vs U-brake pull

So I picked up a 1985 Stumpjumper Sport in need of restoration. The bike is missing (Not original) brake levers, shifters and wheelset. The groupset is Shimano Deer Head. Does anyone know if m733 brake levers will work with cantilever brakes and U-brake? I know the levers for cantilever and V-brakes are different... Also forget the weirdest thing is the Scott tri bars, anyone have or know of a source for original set of bars?

Yep, M733 lever will be just fine for your set up. A wanted ad on the forum should turn up a suitable bar pretty quickly. Selling that Scott AT-4 bar should more than cover the cost of a replacement

Never heard of a U-Brake in the original Shimano Deer Head groupset ? always thought they came in

with the first XT groupset ?

Now you got me thinking it's maybe something other than a 1985 Stumpjumper Sport? Stickers say stumpjumper and sport. Has S in the top of the seat stay, has dear head derailleurs. I noticed that the S is not on the top curve of the forks? Does definitely have a U brake...

Looks like Deerhead cantis and Suntour rollercam. The M733 levers will work just fine

So probably a rebadged diacompe bit of kit. If i remember correctly, they made all their brake components for them?

Cool Outland roller cam boot
